Why not just tolerate religion? Should we non-believers keep our peace? Should we let the pious ones enjoy their fantasies? What's the harm?
I borrowed this saying from my "Christian days(ed and confused)" that I like; love the person, hate the religion . OK, OK, I modified it a little.
So..no, that's my answer. It's that simple. Why? Because religion impedes progress. Progress, such as stem cell research, that can make our society/world a much better place to live. Our government takes the faith based approach which morns the blastocyst over the child with a spinal cord injury.
We can't afford to sit around and listen to moistened eyed delusionist spew archaic gibberish as facts. We cannot tolerate the likes of people such as Michele Bachmann (presidential candidate!) warning us against the evils of homosexuality.
We need our bullshit detector calibrated as Sam Harris puts it.
